Fulton Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: FULT)
today announced that R. Scott Smith, Jr., the corporation's chairman,
president and CEO, has been elected to represent the Third Federal Reserve
District on the Federal Advisory Council.
The Federal Advisory Council, which was established in 1913, plays an
ongoing advisory role in the of deliberations of the Federal Reserve's
Board of Governors. The Council consists of twelve bankers, one from each
Federal Reserve District, chosen by the boards of directors of the District
Banks. Members typically serve three-year terms, and meet with Fed
Chairman Ben Bernanke and the Federal Reserve's board of governors four
times a year in Washington, D.C.
The Council communicates with senior policy makers in the nation's capital
on issues of concern not only to bankers but also to the economy at-large.
Smith has 38 years of experience in the banking industry. He is a board
member of Fulton Financial Corporation, American Bankers Association,
Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, and the Economic Development
Company of Lancaster County. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bankers
Association and Director of Lancaster Alliance.
