Fulton Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: FULT)
saluted the career and many contributions of Richard J. Ashby, Jr. as he
prepares to retire.
Ashby, who is senior executive vice president with Fulton Financial
Corporation, announced last fall that he would retire on March 31, 2008
after 30 years with the company.
Ashby will also retire as chairman of Fulton Financial Advisors, the
company's investment management, trust services and brokerage subsidiary.

Ashby joined Fulton Bank, the company's flagship bank which is based in
Lancaster, PA, in 1978 as a vice president/trust officer and over the
years, he assumed a variety of positions at the bank before being promoted
to a member of senior management in 1985. In 1991, he was asked to serve
as president and chief executive officer of Lafayette Ambassador Bank,
another subsidiary of Fulton Financial Corporation headquartered in Easton,
PA. After moving to the Lehigh Valley and working with the Lafayette
Ambassador team for nearly eight years, Ashby returned to Fulton Bank in
1999 as president and chief operating officer. At that time, he was also
named executive vice president of Fulton Financial Corporation.
In 2003, Ashby became chairman and CEO of Fulton Bank and he was promoted
to senior executive vice president of Fulton Financial Corporation where he
headed the organization's newly developed Community Banking Group. In
2006, Ashby became chairman of Fulton Financial Advisors.
Ashby has devoted considerable time to community service in both Lancaster
County and in the Lehigh Valley. His most recent community service
includes serving as a board member of the Lancaster County Career &
Technology Foundation and the Kutztown University Board of Business
Advisors. A longtime member of the Pennsylvania Dutch Council of the Boy
Scouts of America, he has also been a board member of the United Way, the
Fulton Opera House, and the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Ashby has also been active in several professional organizations, including
the Pennsylvania Bankers Association, the Joint State Government
Commission's Adivisory Committee on Decedents' Estates Laws. He is a
member of The Robert Morris Associates and the Lancaster, Northampton and
Pennsylvania Bar Associations.
